Big bang: black holes in reverse?

  1. Since the early 1960's the idea of the implosion of a big star to form a black hole might be similar to the big bang origin of our universe with time run in the reverse direction has been studied.

It doesn't seem like there has been a major payoff yet..or have I missed it??
Have there even been any significant insights or advances?? Anyone have any recent references that might discuss the issue(s)?? Is there any analogy to inflation in the collapse of a star??
    thanks
