Birdcage Concept 2-storey building

How much is this concept of Birdcage Concept of building implemented elsewhere (in the US)? It is one where there is no column or beam but only consisting of tubular pipes and membranes as reinforcement (see picture above of actual construction). The maximum storey being only two. But how does this compared to conventional 2-storey reinforced concrete column and beam in terms of strength and seismic performance? Being more unified, I think it is more resistant in earthquakes. What do you think?
