Boiling Point

    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

    In Breckenridge, Colorado, the typical atmospheric pressure is 520. torr. What is the boiling point of water (ΔH = 40.7 kJ/mol) in Breckenridge?

    What pressure would have to applied to steam at 331°C to condense the steam to liquid water?

    2. Relevant equations

    Not sure! Our teacher hasn't taught us! T=delta H/S??

    3. The attempt at a solution

    She hasn't taught us anything! :(

    It can be calculated from first principles. Look up the Clausius-Clapeyron equation on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clausius-Clapeyron_relation, the most useful from of the equation is under the applications section) or preferably in your chemistry text.
