Bridge building tips? (engineering i think)

  1. Dec 13, 2005 #1
we're doing a little fun project in class with making bridges. the bridge can only be constructed out of 6 sheets of 8.5 x 11'' paper; 15 cm of transparent tape, 50.0 cm of silk thread, and 1.5 cm of glue. theres going to be a 10 cm space which represents the gap where our bridge is going to be built, and in that space there can't be anything that touches the cardboard. and we're suppose to hold a mass for 15 seconds, prefereably a slug. umm here's my design, can you guys tell me what i need to improve on it? and your input/design ideas? thanks!

    the green = paper
and the pinkish is the string
we were going to make the paper rolled into about 10 cm high cylinders
and we were going to make the string support it. and i seriously have no clue how that'll make sense.
