Brown ring test

    when considering the brown ring test to test NO3- do you first have to mix NO3- and H2SO4 together and then put newly made FeSO4 or
    first mix NO3- and newly made FeSO4 together and then pour H2SO4
    or does it it make any differance either way

    FeSO4 is to be out in the end along the sides of the test tube leading to the formation of a brown ring along the circumfrence of the liquid layer.
