Homework Help: Browser script for assigning colours to specific characters.

Right now I'm doing a bit of self learning on the topic of synesthesia. It is a condition in which a person makes strange and automatic associations between seemingly unrelated concepts. For example some people always see numbers in colour and some always see letters in colour. Some see colour when musical notes are heard.

I want to experiment on myself to see if synesthesia can be learned. So I want to create a script in a browser which assigns a colour to each number and letter. Before I start on this project I want to know if such a script is even possible. Can any of the programmers out there tell me?
