Learn Calculus Basics: Videos for Beginners

In summary, there are many good online resources for learning the basics of calculus, including websites such as Academicearth, Mathforum, and MIT Open Courseware. Other helpful resources include MathWorld and Paul's Online Notes. For video lectures, some recommended sources are the Banner lectures from Princeton and the videos on Just Math Tutoring.

A few resources:

http://mathforum.org/library/topics/": links to teaching/elearning aides on any/every mathematical topic

http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Mathematics/index.htm" [Broken]: (free online lectures, notes, tests, and some video lectures) for classes in Mathematics

http://mathworld.wolfram.com/" [Broken]: Math resources website, from the makers of Mathematica

Can others please add?

I like http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/" [Broken] a lot. It covers everything I had to study about Calculus pretty well, and it is nicely organized. Hope you like it too :)

For basics I often suggest Paul's online notes as well.

For video, the best free ones I have found are the Banner ones from Princeton:

1. What is Calculus?

Calculus is a branch of mathematics that deals with the study of change. It is used to analyze rates of change, slopes, and curves of various functions. It has two main branches: differential calculus and integral calculus. Differential calculus deals with the instantaneous rate of change, while integral calculus deals with the accumulation of small changes over a period of time.

2. Why is Calculus important?

Calculus is an essential tool in many fields, including physics, engineering, economics, and statistics. It is used to solve complex problems that cannot be solved using other methods. Many real-world phenomena, such as motion, growth, and optimization, can only be accurately described and analyzed using calculus.

3. Is Calculus difficult to learn?

Calculus can be challenging for beginners, but with dedication and practice, it can be mastered. It requires a solid understanding of algebra and trigonometry, as well as critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Watching videos for beginners can be helpful in breaking down complex concepts and making them easier to understand.

4. How can I improve my Calculus skills?

To improve your Calculus skills, it is important to practice regularly and consistently. Start by mastering the basics and then move on to more complex topics. It is also helpful to work on a variety of problems and seek help from teachers or tutors when needed. Watching videos for beginners can also be a useful supplement to traditional learning methods.

5. Are there any prerequisites for learning Calculus?

A strong foundation in algebra and trigonometry is essential for learning Calculus. Without a solid understanding of these subjects, it can be challenging to grasp the concepts of Calculus. It is also helpful to have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as they are crucial in solving Calculus problems.
