Car collision

  1. Nov 15, 2006 #1
Two cars collide head on while each is traveling at 80 km/hr. Suppose all their kinetic energy is transformed into the thermal energy of the wrecks. What is the temperature increase of each car? Assume the car's specific heat is that of iron. Any thoughts?

Calculate the kinetic energy of the cars (answer in terms of mass, m). Figure out how that much energy would change the temperature of a lump of iron of mass 2m
