    Hi all,
I am posting because I am having difficulty differentiating the fields of optics/photonics which one may study and be employed in.
Ultimately, I am trying to figure out:
1)What are the current applications of this science in industry (and current fields of research)?
2)Per field, which would be a more appropriate bachelors degree? The college I will be attending offers a physics major with optical physics option and an electrical and computer science major with an optoelectronics option.

*A side question: I do not wish to work in research/pursue a PhD. I'd prefer to work for industry with a masters. Thus, is physics out of the question?

    Thank you for your help
