Cars and other forms of transit

  1. Dec 22, 2004 #1
I am looking for a book/s (yes I know this is the wrong section, but it will probably get more replies here :tongue2: ). I want a book/s that is a big overview of all the transit systems (US and Europe in particular) But I also want a huge emphasis on cars in the US. I do not want a book that was written by GM, or Chevron, if you catch my drift  . So mainly a book that argues about all of the problems with the US transit systems (with a big emphasis on cars: cost, roads, gas(oil), environment). And also to have a brief overview of transit systems and cars in other countries. Do such books exist? Do any of you have a recommendation/s? Thanks

Try the following resources, particular NTD and BTS in US:

    US Department of Transportation (USDOT)

    Federal Transit Administration (FTA), USDOT
    http://www.fta.dot.gov/14512_ENG_HTML.htm [Broken]
    http://www.fta.dot.gov/transit_data_info/national_transit_db/1082_613_ENG_HTML.htm [Broken]

National Transit Database (NTD), FTA, USDOT
    http://www.ntdprogram.com/NTD/ntdhome.nsf/Docs/NTDPublications?OpenDocument# [Broken]

Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) - USDOT

For Europe try the European Union website - Transport Homepage
    http://www.eu.int/comm/transport/index_en.html [Broken]

    Happy hunting!
