    What is the difference between this two types of support when we finding horizontal displacement?

    4a is a fixed support.
    4b is a frictionless pin or hinge.

    Depending upon the method of attachment, "A" would be a lot stronger.

    Oops! Hang on now... what was the original question? Did you mean what is the difference in the displacement?
