Centre of gravity related problem

  1. Apr 24, 2015 #1
The attached file contains a question my brother asked me solve. But this problem might have some problem of its own. I feel like every position of the spanner is a probable one. Can someone please help.

p.s. i know the answer but avoiding giving it to avoid getting biased.
