Thin Film Deposition: Carbazole Molecular Glasses Color Change

In summary, thin film deposition is the process of depositing a thin layer of material onto a surface. Carbazole molecular glasses are a type of organic material that can be used in this process to create a film with unique properties, resulting in a color change due to aggregation. These glasses have a variety of applications in optoelectronic devices and can be affected by factors such as deposition method, substrate material, film thickness, and molecular structure.

Homework Statement
Hi everyone,I hope you are doing well.
I am trying to get a thin film of molecular glasses based carbazole , and during the deposition with physical vapor deposition I notice that the color change from brum to black liquid then we get a yellow thin film .
Please could you help me the understand what's happen ?
Thank you in advance for your interest.

Here is a mini lecture on the topic.

1. What is thin film deposition?

Thin film deposition is a process in which a thin layer of material is deposited onto a substrate, typically using a vapor phase or liquid phase method. In this case, it refers to the deposition of carbazole molecular glasses onto a surface.

2. What are carbazole molecular glasses?

Carbazole molecular glasses are a type of organic compound that have a carbazole core and glass-forming functional groups. They are commonly used in thin film deposition for their unique properties, such as their ability to change color when deposited in thin films.

3. How does the color change occur in carbazole molecular glasses during thin film deposition?

The color change in carbazole molecular glasses is due to a phenomenon called aggregation-induced emission (AIE), where the molecules are forced to aggregate and emit light when in a solid state. This aggregation is induced during thin film deposition, resulting in a change in color.

4. What applications can thin film deposition of carbazole molecular glasses have?

The color-changing properties of carbazole molecular glasses make them useful in various applications, such as in optical sensors, displays, and optoelectronic devices. They can also be used as coatings for anti-counterfeiting purposes, as the color change is difficult to replicate.

5. What are the challenges in thin film deposition of carbazole molecular glasses?

One of the main challenges in thin film deposition of carbazole molecular glasses is controlling the thickness and uniformity of the deposited film. This can affect the color and properties of the film. Another challenge is finding the right deposition method and conditions to induce the desired color change. Additionally, the stability and long-term performance of the thin film must also be considered.
