ChemE for BioFuel

  1. Sep 13, 2011 #1
I am considering majoring in ChemE and want to know how well it would prepare me to do research and industry work related to biofuels, specifically hydrocarbon producing algae. I'm torn between all engineering disciplines but I love chemistry and think that it might be most interesting in the long run. I want to be involved in alternative energy, and I think that we will replace oil with naturally produced hydrocarbons. Advice? Experience? What options do ChemE's have after school? Unrelated but also important: Any chance to work outside?
