SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the generation of a steady source of light through chemical reactions, specifically focusing on chemiluminescence as a viable method. Participants suggest alternatives to burning magnesium strips, which provide only momentary light. The conversation highlights the need for a chemical reaction that can consistently power devices like photoresistors. Overall, chemiluminescence is identified as a key term for further exploration in this context.

PREREQUISITES
  • Chemiluminescence principles
  • Basic chemistry of light-emitting reactions
  • Understanding of photoresistor functionality
  • Knowledge of chemical reaction kinetics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research chemiluminescent compounds and their applications
  • Explore methods to enhance the duration of light emission in chemical reactions
  • Investigate the integration of chemiluminescence with electronic components like photoresistors
  • Study the safety and handling of chemical reactions for light generation

Does anyone know of reaction that can generate a a steady source of light? Preferably one easier to activate than burning of magnesium strips(which is too momentary anyway, I'm trying to make a chemical reaction that can eventually power a photoresistor/ light).

The word you are looking for is chemiluminescence. Unfortunately I can't help much more than that because you seem to have a very specific application in mind.
