Competitive antagonism in Schild plot

  1. Hi all,

I was just wondering, why is the slope of the Schild plot equal to 1 when competitive antagonism occurs? If possible, can you please explain it by relating to the equation:

    log(r-1) = logx - logK

    where r = dose ratio, x = antagonist concentratoin and K = dissociation constant

    Many thanks,
    Jay
