Computer Analysis of Free fall

  1. Oct 12, 2008 #1
Sometimes Technology makes me happy, and sometimes it makes me cry, and THIS is definitely one of those times that it makes me cry.

So we used a free fall program to give us values of the distance, velocity, time and acceleration.

Then we had to graph it on Excel, and then find the equation relating to the data using Excel=regression program.

    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

So the question is, are there benefits and drawbacks using a regression program for finding the equation relating your data?

    2. Relevant equations

    No relevant equations

    3. The attempt at a solution

    So, I thought.
    Benefits:
-No calculations by hand are needed
-All figures are precise to 4 sig figs

    Drawbacks:
    - ??? Does it have anything to do with percentage error?

Are there more benefits and I'm obviously missing drawbacks...
