Conservation of momentum

  1. Mar 19, 2004 #1
If a girl running at a constant velocity jumps onto a stationary sled (neglecting friction), am I correct in thinking that momentum is conserved when the two objects collide end up moving together?

Yes, the momentum of the girl alone before the jump and the momentum of the girl+sled system after the jump are equal.
