1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data The harmonic series diverges, but the alternating harmonic series converges. 2. Relevant equations [tex]\sum[/tex]1/n = diverge [tex]\sum[/tex]1/n x (-1)^n = converge 3. The attempt at a solution I don't understand.... why would one converge and one diverge? They both go to zero... Does it have something to do with telescoping?
