Coulomb's law questions

    questions relate to coulomb's law.

    What will happen the to force if one of the charge was doubled. (ex.q1 was doubled)

    I think that the force would double as well right?

    What if q1 and q2 were cut in half?

    the distance is tripled?

    the distance is cut in half?

    What if q1 was tripped and the distance doubled?

    F=kq1q2/r2 in general.

    Substitute

    n1q1 for q1

    or

    n2q2 for q2

    or

    (nrr)2 for r2

    where n1, n2 and nr are the fractional modifications you seek to introduce.

    So, what happens to a given F when nr=1/3; i. e., the interaction distance is reduced by a factor of three?

    Answer: Ffinal=9Finitial.

    I think that the force would increase four times

    I think that the force would be mult. by 3/4?
