Credit for Senior AP

I see people say they get 5's on their AP classes their senior year. The exam for the class is at the end of the year and you apply for college in the fall. How do colleges know what you take your senior year and what you got, if the school year isn't over. Do they just ignore the last semester?

I accidently posted this in the wrong section, meant to put it in Academic and Career Guidance. Sorry.

you report your scores to the school you have chosen to attend.

i also believe that the school will ask to see an updated transcript after you have graduated.
