Dark Matter Detected?

    The means of detection is given in the following quote from thatr paper:

    "the model independent annual modulation signature for Dark Matter particles in the galactic halo"

    They show results for seven annual cycles.

    My question is how can we distinguish between Dark Matter and the variations of G (and no dark matter) proposed by Moffat. It seems that spatial variations in G would produce the same signature.
