Homework Help: Data analysis

  1. Aug 21, 2008 #1
    1. In an experiment to find the index of refraction, n, of a block of glass, the angle of incidence, θi, and angle of refraction, θr, were measured a number of times as follows:

    θi: 10° 20° 30° 40° 50°
    θr: 7.0° 13.5° 20.0° 25.5° 31.0°

    Given that the relationship between n, θi and θr is:
    n =sin θi/sin θr

    Calculate the best estimate for n with its uncertainty, and state the nal result with the
    appropriate number of significant figures.

    can someone explain to me how to form the equation?

    What have you come up with so far? You are given the equation to use for this.

    You might start by graphing your data...
