Dc machines cores

  1. Nov 13, 2009 #1
why are laminated rotor cores used in dc machines (with dc current in the rotor) when there is no possibility of eddy current (or is there?).

If the rotor has a commutator, the currents in the rotor windings are not dc, and the core must be laminated. If the rotor has slip rings, the currents are almost dc.
