Density mass

  1. Oct 10, 2007 #1
A rock hound finds a solid rock that contains only quartz and gold. The rock has a mass of 12.08 kg and a volume of 3.909×10-3 m^3. What is the mass of the gold contained in the rock?

    Density of gold: 19300 kg/m^3
    Density of quarts: 2660 kg/m^3

This appears to be a homework problem that you want us to answer for you. We are not here to do your homework. At best we expect to see how far you've gotten or what you believe may be the right way to solve it or tell us you have no clue on how to approach it. Only then will we help you obtain an answer to your question. This is forum policy and I, personaly, will not step beyond that policy out of respect to the forum owner and his assitants. The specific policy that is being ignored here (not by intention I'm sure) is this part You MUST show that you have attempted to answer your question in order to receive help.

Have you read the guidelines? If not then please read the material in this link

    https://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=5374

    It states
The Homework & Coursework Questions area is located at

When you've shown us your attempts to try to solve this problem only then can we assist.

    Best regards

    Pete
