Derivative of a fraction

  1. Jan 26, 2009 #1
I'm having trouble finding the derivative of -2x^2+2x-7/x......I'm having trouble understand what to do with the X underneath. Do I bring X to the numerator and make it X^-1 or what? Thanks for your helphttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

    Yes

    [tex] \frac{1}{x^n} = x^{-n} [/tex]

Now use the power rule, i.e.

    [tex] f(x) = x^{blah} \Rightarrow f'(x) = ? [/tex]
