Which CAD Software is Best for 3D Design Assignments?

In summary, the conversation is about choosing the best software for constructing 3D CAD drawings. The person has experience with Pro/E but has heard that SolidWorks is the best software. They ask for advice on which software is the most straightforward to use, and the response is that it depends on the person's familiarity with Pro/E. If they are comfortable with it, they should stick with it, but otherwise, SolidWorks is recommended due to its user-friendly interface, abundance of resources, and popularity among employers.

So I have a design assignment, I need to construct some 3D CAD drawings. I have basic exp with Pro/E but I've heard Solid works is the best software to use.

So out of AutoCAD Inventor / Solidworks / Pro Engineer. Which is the most straight forward on to use?

Wait, straightforward or best? They are not necessarily the same thing.

Personally, I prefer Pro/E

Sorry, I should have made my question more clear. The most straight forward to use.

It depends on how familiar you are with Pro/E (also perhaps how many of your peers, who could help you, use it). If you are already fairly comfortable with it and you need to produce the drawings soon then you should stick with Pro/E. Otherwise I would suggest SolidWorks. There is tons of information/videos/books that you can find online for free, its very easy to use, it has kept its similar structure for a decade, there are a lot of good books for it at book stores and from the job searches that I have done there are a lot more employers who use SolidWorks.
