Homework Help: Direction of net force

  1. Jan 15, 2010 #1
    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known datahttp://img8.imageshack.us/img8/8541/netforce.jpg [Broken]

    2. Relevant equations

    3. The attempt at a solution
The forces on the left and right sides cancel. The forces on the top and bottom segments of the loop are in opposite directions, so the magnitudes subtract. So i have found magnitude of the net force, but how about direction?
