Distance Sensor for 100m Range: Small Size (15cm^3)

In summary, the distance sensor uses ultrasonic waves to measure the distance between the sensor and an object. It has a range of up to 100 meters and a precision of up to 1 millimeter. The small size of the sensor is not a limitation, as it is designed for compact applications. It can be used both indoors and outdoors, but environmental factors may affect its performance and accuracy. It is recommended to calibrate the sensor for optimal results.

Hello,
I'm looking for a distance sensor for range of 100 meters (neutral surface).
The sensor should be small (15cm^3).
Do you have any recommendations?

thanks

Most likely some sort of time of flight LIDAR sensor would be most appropriate. What accuracy/resolution do you desire? Cost an object?

1. How does the distance sensor work?

The distance sensor uses ultrasonic waves to measure the distance between the sensor and an object. It sends out a high-frequency sound wave and measures the time it takes for the wave to bounce back. By knowing the speed of sound and the time it takes for the wave to return, the sensor can calculate the distance to the object.

2. What is the range of this distance sensor?

This distance sensor has a range of up to 100 meters, making it suitable for long-distance measurements. However, the accuracy of the measurements may vary depending on factors such as the surface of the object being measured and the surrounding environment.

3. Is the small size of this sensor a limitation?

While the size of this distance sensor may be smaller compared to others on the market, it is designed to be compact for specific applications where space is limited. Its small size does not affect its range or accuracy, making it a convenient option for certain projects.

4. How precise are the measurements from this sensor?

This distance sensor has a precision of up to 1 millimeter, making it suitable for precise measurements. However, the precision may vary depending on the distance and other environmental factors. It is recommended to calibrate the sensor for optimal accuracy.

5. Can this distance sensor be used in outdoor environments?

Yes, this distance sensor is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. However, factors such as wind, temperature, and humidity may affect its performance and accuracy. It is important to consider these factors when using the sensor in an outdoor setting.
