Homework Help: Dragster - acceleration questions

  1. Nov 27, 2009 #1
I have a couple of questions which is on a piece of homework that im doing, it might sound a bit stupid but i am just double checking what everyone else thinks really.

Q: A long nose is useful in stopping a dragster flipping when it starts accelerating, Why?

I believe that it is because with such a long nose the weight is further out to the front which will make it much harder to flip.

Q: Why is an engine in a dragster placed at the rear of the car

I think that it is because it means that most of the weight is over the rear wheel which are the ones that drive it, meaning better traction.

Thats the questions and what i think but im not completely sure, any ideas would be greatly welcomed.

    Thanks Everyone.
