Light: Wave or Particle?

In summary, light exhibits properties of both a wave and a particle. It can behave as a wave, with characteristics such as diffraction, interference, and polarization, and as a particle, with tiny packets of energy called photons. The wave-particle duality theory explains this behavior, and while both the wave and particle theories are accurate, the duality theory is considered to be more accurate in describing light's behavior.

Light can act like a wave or a particle ,depending on why?
when two photons intersect they must collide since they are particles
but rays independence tells they won't

1. Is light a wave or a particle?

Light exhibits properties of both a wave and a particle. This phenomenon is known as wave-particle duality. In some experiments, light behaves like a wave, while in others, it behaves like a particle.

2. How does light behave as a wave?

As a wave, light exhibits characteristics such as diffraction, interference, and polarization. It also has a wavelength and frequency, and can travel through a medium.

3. How does light behave as a particle?

As a particle, light is made up of tiny packets of energy called photons. These photons have no mass and travel at the speed of light. They also have properties such as momentum and energy.

4. What is the wave-particle duality theory?

The wave-particle duality theory explains the behavior of light as both a wave and a particle. It states that depending on the type of experiment being conducted, light will exhibit properties of either a wave or a particle.

5. Which theory of light is more accurate, wave or particle?

Both the wave and particle theories of light are accurate and can be used to explain different phenomena. However, the wave-particle duality theory is considered to be more accurate in describing the behavior of light.
