Electric potential of a ring

    What is the electric potential a distance x above the center of a ring of charge Q with a radius R? Derive the electric field from this relationship.

    Every particle on the ring is equally distant from the point where the potential is being calculated. How would you calculate the speed due to one particle at a certain distance?
