Homework Help: Emitter Follower

  1. Feb 2, 2010 #1
    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

Use a follower with base driven from a voltage divider to provide a stiff source of +5 volts from an available regulated +15 volt supply. Load current (max) = 25mA. Choose your resistor values so that the output coltage doesn't drop more than 5% under full load.

    2. Relevant equations

    3. The attempt at a solution

I am having problems understanding the question, particularly I don't understand what "load current" means. If it were the current that flows through the emitter resistor, than when the load current is 0 the output of the emitter follower should still be 5 volts but how can it be with no current and thus no potential drop across the emitter resistor?
