Emotions: Primal or Learned?

  1. Sep 26, 2007 #1
Are emotions learned as we grow? Can we reverse and minipulate emotions to act the opposite of what it should? Is it possible to teach a child to laugh and be happy when they are hurt or injured and the world is bleak with dispair as we know it? Can we teach a child to be violent and hateful when they are in a mild, warm, calm evironment? Can we do the same for adults? There are examples of these situations. People find pleasure from pain. People find pain from pleasure. Where and when are these changes occuring and what are the causes?
