Essay question

  1. Sep 30, 2009 #1
Hello, I have to write an essay on the poem "Theme for English B" by Langston Hughes.

The topic is is it crippling to question one's identity or is it ultimately enabling?

I have trouble understanding the topic. Could anyone give me a general idea on what to write about?

Don't take my advice seriously. I never been good enough with my English :(.

I think the question is asking if it is telling us that all people are same or that different color people have different identities.I am sure you can interpret the question in a better way.

P.S. Langston Hughes is black as I thought and the poem is from early or mid 1900s I believe.
