Expansion of Combusting Butane

  1. Aug 5, 2010 #1
    Hi

I would like to know how much expansion occurs during combustion when butane burns with air.

The reason that I would like to know this is that I am designing and making a spa pool boiler for heating the pool water. I understand that I have probably not supplied enough information for an exact answer. As I am designing this myself I will allow some "safety margin", so I am not after an answer that is 100% correct.

The bottom line for me is: What is the ratio between the inlet area and the exhaust area?

    Thanks
