Eyebrow Piercing(ouch?)

  1. Aug 7, 2007 #1
I was thinking about getting the brow pierced once I am in school and out of my house. How badly does it hurt and for how long?

Why would you want to make a hole in your eyebrow? Its not going to make you look cool.

  4. Aug 7, 2007 #3
I don't see how you can make the judgement when you haven't even seen me. I have just always wanted to get one..

If I saw you with one, Id probably think your crying for attention, because normal people dont walk around with rings on their eyebrows. Its like those guys that wear spacers in their ear....why. Its stupid. Who wants their ear lobes stretched out like rubber bands? This ant no tribe in africa.

You're already cool, you dont need holes in your face to prove it.

My daughter just had her eyebrow pierced. Seems that it was not real painful.

Cyrus, If this is not your thing why waste your time and ours by posting in this thread?

I've wanted my eyebrow done for a while. From experience I know that some piercings hurt like the dickens but others you barely even feel. It varies per person as well. As with any piercing make sure you clean it and take care of it really well, or it can get infected or very sore. Usually the pain you get when its pierced is nothing compared to the tenderness after...

I have heard it is not to bad at that instant you get it pierced, which I am not too concerned about. But after a while I heard it can, just don't want it to be a hassle when I'm studin and all.

Generally ibuprofin helps a lot, and ice for the swelling. Have you had any prior piercings? Usually the first two weeks are the worst. If you can make it through that and keep it cleaned and let it heal up right, you'll be fine. Most people who get piercings just cause they look cool without ever looking into it tend not to take good enough care.

Belly button piercings for instance, are the most often infected (and in my opinion, most disgusting) piercings. But think of the population who tends to get belly button rings... its probably the only piercing those girls ever get, and they just think its a new toy or whatever.

Mostly, just be responsible, and really commit. If you really want it and take care of it, its worth it.

Just don't plan on wearing it to a job interview anywhere other than Starbucks.

Now that Tower Video has gone out of business, there aren't that many employers with a minimum piercing and tatoo requirement.

Regarding piercing, I've never understood it, then again, I don't really get the concept of jewelry either. A wedding ring is my limit (and that's mostly for my wife's benefit, it's not important to me). Who starts these traditions anyway? Apparently it was the DeBeers that started the concept of diamond rings being the standard gift for when a couple get's engaged. I'm not sure who started the idea behind wearing rings as a sign of marriage. It's all a corporate plot.

My daughter had the eyebrow thing done along with a two pairs of holes in her lips so she can wire them shut. Not shut enough for me. She has let one of the pairs in her mouth grow back together. She has been looking for work without success and still refuses to lose the hardware. I expect her attitude is hurting her as much as the jewelry.

As far as I remember the density of pain receptors in the face is fairly low so I doubt it will be one of the more painful piercings. I'm not too sure about that though so a biology person would have to confirm it.

I think if you're overly worried about the pain then you should reassess your decision to get one. People who get piercings or tattoos never worry about the pain because they are sure it is what they want. Or if they do worry they are prepared to get it done anyway.

How about ear piercings? The only difference being that your earlobes probably collect less dirt than (their) belly buttons do

I don't like facial piercings. My sister has an eyebrow piercing, the same as her boyfriend, if she likes the look of it then so be it. I don't think it will hurt a lot, it will be a little sore for the first two weeks. Just ask the person setting the piercing for advice about keeping it clean and handling the piercing.

Every time I see someone with an eyebrow piercing I think they've got a bug or something nasty caught on their brow. I think they are the least attractive of all the facial piercings.

A friend of my youngest daughter has one and she has to remove it when she goes to work. I keep wanting to swat the thing off her face, then I remember it's a piercing.

I wanted to get one too!

But my issue was, would it be difficult to get a job? Can you tell I have one if I take it out?

Hey. On some people an eyebrow piercing can look nasty cool. Evanescence's album Fallen I can remember.

It's only a cry for attention in people that it would be a cry for attention. Some people just think it looks cool.

There might be more initial bleeding from a brow than other places simply because of the blood vessel distribution in the face, but it won't last for long.
As for the pain, I wouldn't expect much... but everyone has his/her own tolerance. My 2 piercings were in... shall we say, a somewhat more sensitive area :uhh:... and I found that the discomfort came from clamping the area rather than the needle itself. For the healing period, it was more of a slightly burning itch. It was irritating, but not painful.
