Figuring Ratios - Please help

    4 ounces of substance for a 10% solution for 1 gallon of water

    2. Relevant equations



    3. The attempt at a solution

    42.68 ounces of substance per gallon? to make a 10% solution in water?

    This doesn't make sense to me. Is this the exact problem description?
    How did you get 42.68 oz? There are 128 oz. in a gallon. Show how you calculated this and we can set you straight.

    What type of gallon do you mean? US Gallon? Imperial Gallon? These are quite different, and this forum is international, not purely American.
