Finding Tau and K from unit step response

  1. Jan 27, 2012 #1
    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
    Simulate the system to look at the output response with a unit step input applied i.e. use the
    step command. Confirm the values of K and τau from the simulated response are the same as
    those you have entered into the simulation. Note that the step command can be used with
    left-hand arguments to give the actual values plotted – see the help function for further
    information.

    2. Relevant equations
    K=3.49
    Tau = 480ms

    3. The attempt at a solution
    I have simulated the response and received a graph in Matlab, but i dont know how to then find K and tau.

    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks
