We the student fraternity of IIT Madras-India first and foremost thank you for the wonderful book "Concepts and applications of finite element analysis"

Sir, I have been struggling with a solution involving transient thermal analysis of a reactangular body which we have discretised with four noded rectangular elements.

We have used "Direct Integration scheme" given on page 465 of the book "Concepts and applications of finite element analysis" by robert cook your book described in equation 12.4-9.

However, we have negative temperatures for a problem wherein we have all four sides of the section exposed to fire.

We are sure that we have correct values of specific heat, thermal conductivity,density.Still we get negative temperatures at internal nodes.Can you give us any suggestions.Extremely obliged,
