In summary, potassium cyanide is added to a powder containing pure gold and rock, and reacts with gold in the presence of oxygen to form potassium gold cyanide and potassium hydroxide. When zinc is added, it reacts with potassium gold cyanide. The balance equations for these reactions need to be determined.

The company that uses and created a liquid version of the cyanide as opposed to the brick form is Cyanco. Look them up on google.

Thanks

You must show an attempt at a solution before we can offer tutorial help. What are the chemical symbols for the elements and compounds in your question? How would you go about trying to balance the chemical equations?

What is gold mining?

Gold mining is the process of extracting gold from the earth through various methods such as panning, dredging, and underground mining.

How is gold mined?

Gold can be mined through surface mining or underground mining. Surface mining involves removing the top layer of soil and rock to access the gold deposits, while underground mining involves digging tunnels and shafts to reach the gold ore.

What are the environmental impacts of gold mining?

Gold mining can have significant environmental impacts, including deforestation, pollution of water sources, and release of toxic chemicals into the environment. It can also contribute to soil erosion and loss of biodiversity.

What are the socioeconomic impacts of gold mining?

Gold mining can bring both positive and negative socioeconomic impacts. On one hand, it can create jobs and boost the local economy. On the other hand, it can lead to displacement of communities, conflicts over land rights, and exploitation of workers.

What are some alternatives to traditional gold mining?

Some alternatives to traditional gold mining include using environmentally-friendly mining techniques, such as using biodegradable chemicals and implementing land rehabilitation plans. Another alternative is to invest in recycled gold, which reduces the need for new mining and minimizes environmental impacts.
