Graphical solution of fourier transform in matlab

    my signals book (lathi) gives a problem where i should find the fourier transform of e^-at.

    for e^-at, F(ω) = 1-e^(-a-jw)T
    -----------------
    a+jw

    My question is how would you do a graphical matlab fourier transform analysis of f(t) = e^at?

    Would my matlab code look something like this?
    a=????;
    T=????;
    t=0:T:8;
    y=exp(-a*t);
    Y=fft(y,512);
    magY=abs(Y)*T;
    phaseY=(180/pi)*angle(Y);
    f=(1/T)*(1:128)/256;
    w=2*pi*f;
    plot(w,magY(1:128)),grid, xlabel('w'), ylabel('|F(w)|')
    plot(w,phaseY(1:128)),grid, xlabel('w'), ylabel('<F(w)|')
