Gravity question

  1. Sep 29, 2009 #1
    see attached image.
A "W" shaped pipe. Column A - ordinary tap water.Column B-salted water,33%salt just like Dead Sea water.there is no contact between the two columns of water.

An air pocket is trapped inbetween the two columns.
What will be the behaviour of this setup based on the difference of the density of columns A & B.
What will happen when we add more salt in column B.
Will column B (salty) eventually push the air out through column A due to its higher density/pressure?
    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

    3. The attempt at a solution
