Hand operated gearbox

  1. Apr 13, 2009 #1
    Hi,
I am tasked to design an elevation gearbox that will enable the operator to achieve precise elevation motion of a heavy load (700 to 800 kilograms) with manual force of about 100 N.

As the load is heavy and accuracy required, is it correct that I will need a gear reducing gearbox to act as a torque mulitplier?

I have the weight of the load and the ideal input force (100 N; to prevent fatigue of operator), but I do not know how to derive the gear ratio required for the gearbox.

Will appreciate if I can get any suggestions and help here.

    Thanks!
