Heisenberg and the bomb

  1. Dec 5, 2006 #1
just wondering if anyone knows if there is a consesus on whether or not heisenberg was really working for the nazis during ww2. i haven't read much about it but i've heard conflicting theories on how serious he was about making an a-bomb for germany. its just weird that he is pretty much respected by people today, but if he was successful at what he was doing during the war (if he really was trying of course) he would be considered one of the biggest villians in history.

Werner Heisenberg was a nazi-schmazi who happened to be a brilliant scientist.

Isaac Newton was a disgusting, vindictive person who happened to be a brilliant mathematician.

Leonhard Euler was a brilliant mathematician who happened to be a very beloved grandfather as well.
