Hi there everyone,
This is my first post here. I'm a musical instrument maker who also dabbles in robotics and electronics as a hobby.
I need some help identifying a mechanical component. It's in two parts, a plastic internally threaded housing and an externally threaded insert that screws into it. I don't *think* it's a custom made component; it looks moulded.
In this application (a hurdy gurdy shaft) it's purpose is to a) house the end bearing that supports the shaft and b) allow the fit to be adjustable.
Outside photo, screwed in:

Outside photo, unscrewed a bit:
http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/cache.php?url=http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=38920&d=1326710901
What it's doing (diagram is too small, sorry):

Many thanks,
Barnaby
