The direction of this acceleration is towards the centre of the circular bend.

1. Draw a force diagram of a car travelling around a circular bend assuming the road surface is horizontal.

2. Draw a force diagram of a car travelling around a circular bend assuming the road surface is cambered to at an angle θ to the horizontal.

3. Calculate the maximum speed that a 1500kg car can travel around a horizontal bend of radius 50m assuming a coefficient of static friction of 0.7.

4. Calculate the maximum speed that a 1500kg car can travel around a bend of radius 50m with a positive camber of 5° assuming a coefficient of static friction of 0.7.
