Help with a Kernel smoothing function

  1. Mar 12, 2012 #1
    Hi there,

Would anybody here have a background in time series analysis?

I'm trying use a Kernel smoothing method to smooth out data that I have collected in excel, but I'm not sure exactly how to use it.

It's pretty basic, I've recorded speed data from a car every second for a journey and I'm trying to smooth the profile as it contains some noise.

I have a 2 page document with an example that explains exactly how to do it, but I don't understand the equations? it is available here

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54057365/All/Document1.pdf [Broken]

Any help wold be greatly received

    Thank you

    John
