Help with newton's rings concept

  1. We've been working with Newton's rings in my physics class and I'm a little confused. All the explanations we've gotten only consider light that hits the bottom surface of some glass bowl and the surface of the glass that the bowl is resting on. I'm wondering why we don't think about the light that's hitting the top surface of the bowl that's reflecting off of it?
