Can Hot Wire Measurement run in Water Tunnel?
Thanks a lot!
No. You need a non-conducting medium. In water, a hot wire will cause electrolysis problems.
The potential drop across the wire is what causes the electrolysis which cause bubbles on the wire. More importantly, there will be a continuous reduction in the wire diameter. Hence the diameter and thus resistance will change. Since the resistance changes, the ability to determine the flow velocity is lost.
